The central government will not sit by if the situation in Hong Kong deteriorates to a point that Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government cannot handle, said Zhang Xiaoming, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
The State Administration of Foreign Exchange, the country's foreign exchange regulator, said on Wednesday that the United States labeling China as a currency manipulator "is completely the opposite of the truth, and the action simply doesn't hold water".
